Logan Vision was created in 2018 by three University students from China. Their Fusion Vision System (FVS) is an augmented reality smart visor that attaches to a firefighter’s helmet and combines heads-up display tech, thermal imaging, sensors, signal transmission and augmented reality to provide hands-free visibility in dense smoke and share real-time information

Longan Vision had the beginnings of an innovative product but needed a way to continue their venture in Canada with resources to support the growth of their business in Canada. As a Start-up Visa Designate, Spark Centre supported Longan Vision with a letter of support and also connected the startup with its advisors in sales, marketing, finance and investment and with partners who provided industry feedback on their product. With Spark Centre’s help, Longan Vision also made valuable connections with its target customers in the region.

A lot has happened for Longan Vision since. The Longan Vision team, which has significantly grown in size, launched pilot projects in both North America and Asia, including a pilot program with Durham College’s firefighting school. It has also secured a 2.4 million dollar contract with Canada’s Department of National Defence and closed a global investment.

First30

First30 was established in 2019 and provides companies with its proprietary software that creates a customized, automated and repeatable onboarding program for employee success. While First30’s founder, Amy Davies, had a great idea, an extensive network and a strong professional background, she lacked sales experience.

Spark Centre connected Davies to its advisors to receive guidance in marketing and sales and to its partners for accounting and legal services. We also provided Davies with a co-working space at Spark Centre where Davies engaged with our team of professionals, fellow entrepreneurs and advisors.

Since then, First30 has experienced immense growth and success. Not only has First30 launched successful employee retention and onboarding programs, but the startup has also rolled out a series of informative webinars that currently draw 200-600 attendees. First30 also continues to grow its clientele across Canada and the U.S

“The most successful leaders and businesses have a Board of Directors for guidance. That’s how I saw Spark Centre: a Board of Directors of sorts who could support and encourage me and push me out of my comfort zone.”
