From Building to Proof: Spark Centre Client NexScale Demonstrates the Power of AI-Driven Member Retention

Spin Class at the Gym

What if artificial intelligence could help wellness and fitness businesses keep more members — without adding staff or changing the systems they already use?

That’s exactly the challenge NexScale™ is tackling.

Based in the Greater Toronto Area, NexScale is an AI-native software company on a mission to help wellness and fitness businesses grow stronger today while contributing to healthier, longer lives tomorrow. Its flagship platform integrates seamlessly with existing member management systems to identify members at risk of leaving and proactively re-engage them before they churn.

After spending the past year building its technology, 2026 has become the year NexScale is proving its impact.

Bringing AI-Powered Retention to Market
Since launching paid pilot programs in January 2026, the NexScale platform has been deployed with early adopters across the wellness and fitness sector.

Designed for rapid implementation, businesses can onboard in just days without migrating data or disrupting existing operations. Once connected, NexScale’s Chloe analyzes months of member activity, identifies early signs of disengagement, and begins personalized, two-way conversations with members, all while allowing owners to maintain oversight before automating the process.

The result is a solution that helps organizations improve member retention while reducing the operational burden on already busy teams.

Delivering Measurable Results
Early customer results are demonstrating the platform’s value.

Following an initial calibration period, NexScale is seeing retention improvements of more than five percent within three to six months — without requiring additional staffing.

For fitness and wellness organizations, even modest retention gains can have a significant financial impact. Depending on the size of the organization, a five percent improvement can translate into tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual retained revenue.

The platform is already resonating with boutique fitness studios, multi-location operators, premium clubs, and community organizations such as YMCAs and Jewish Community Centres, where member engagement is critical to long-term sustainability.

Purpose-Built Agentic AI
Behind the platform is proprietary graph-based, multi-agent AI technology that predicts member churn six to eight weeks before cancellation decisions are typically made.

Using 48 behavioural signals unique to each business, NexScale’s AI continuously learns from member interactions, enabling highly personalized outreach based on each individual’s goals, history, and engagement patterns. Built on enterprise-ready infrastructure, the platform is designed to scale from smaller studios to organizations serving more than 10,000 members while maintaining security, flexibility, and performance.

Building Momentum Through Partnerships
As customer traction continues to grow, NexScale is expanding its reach through strategic partnerships.

The company has signed a Letter of Intent with a leading Canadian CRM provider, with joint pilot programs expected to launch across YMCAs and Jewish Community Centres in the United States following a formal announcement.

At the same time, NexScale has invested heavily in building relationships throughout the wellness ecosystem, conducting more than 300 discovery conversations and developing a pipeline of more than 3,000 qualified prospects across Ontario, Quebec, and select U.S. markets.

Through regional roundtables, educational events, and an active community of fitness operators, the company is establishing itself as both a technology provider and a trusted thought leader within the industry.

Growing with Lean Innovation
NexScale continues to demonstrate what is possible with an AI-first operating model.

Led by a lean team of seven, supported by AI-powered workflows and automation, the company has built a highly productive organization capable of moving quickly while maintaining a disciplined approach to growth.

Financially, the company has generated early revenue through paid pilots and market discovery services while securing more than $165,000 in non-dilutive funding through programs including Mitacs, DELIA, SR&ED, and Spark Centre. The company has also strengthened its foundation with intellectual property initiatives, governance improvements, and preparations for future investment.

Recognition Across Canada’s Innovation Ecosystem
The company’s progress has not gone unnoticed. Over the past year, NexScale graduated from both Innovation Factory‘s Founder Fast Track program and Spark Centre’s Landing Pad Accelerator Program, receiving a $10,000 grant to support commercialization efforts. It was also recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Startups to Watch in 2026, featured by the City of Markham and MaRS, and saw its founder nominated for a Women in Tech Award.

The company continues to actively engage with leading innovation organizations including Spark Centre, MaRS, ventureLAB, YSpace, Ontario Centre of Innovation, PARO, Innovation Factory, and OpenExo.

Looking Ahead
With a production-ready platform, growing customer validation, and strategic partnerships taking shape, NexScale is entering its next phase of growth.

As additional pilots launch and commercial traction accelerates, the company is preparing for a future seed financing round to expand its team, scale adoption, and continue building what it envisions as the category-defining agentic AI platform for the wellness and fitness industry.

Spark Centre is proud to support innovators like NexScale who are combining cutting-edge artificial intelligence with practical business solutions to strengthen communities, improve health outcomes, and shape the future of wellness technology.
