Ecosystem Informatics Inc. (ESI) is a leading data-as-a-service company specializing in air monitoring and management. The company offers compact, AI-powered devices capable of tracking up to 16 pollutants and environmental factors. These devices can be installed on both stationary and mobile platforms, including buses, trams, and drones, providing extensive area coverage and detailed environmental heatmaps. Based in Ontario, Canada, with an office in the United States, ESI is actively pursuing international expansion to broaden its impact. Their technology enables precise, real-time environmental assessments, making it indispensable for urban planning and public health initiatives.

The inspiration for ESI came in 2016 when Shirook Ali was approached by the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario to develop a prototype device that could measure pollution in real-time while a vehicle was in motion. This project aligned with her commitment to environmental sustainability. After the project concluded, Dr. Ali recognized the broader potential of the technology and in 2019 founded ESI to advance the technology and expand its applications.

Since its founding, ESI has achieved several key milestones. The company successfully launched Generation 5 of its hardware and AI technologies, protected by intellectual property. ESI established a strategic subsidiary in the United States to expand market reach and has grown the company by 300% in just five years, significantly enhancing operational capacity. Additionally, the company has cemented its global footprint by providing its solutions to key private and public sectors internationally.

Through innovation, strategic expansion, and a commitment to sustainability, ESI continues to set new standards in real-time environmental monitoring, helping cities and organizations make informed decisions for a healthier future.
